Decorating the Christmas tree: 2:02 p.m. – 2:17 p.m.

I had to snap fast—everyone wandered off after all the cool ornaments were up—and by the time I was checking the photos they’d all disappeared, boxes everywhere, half the lights not working, and Daphne asking me, “Is this glass? Is it broken?”

  1. Heh. That was *last* year’s surprise at our house!

    Looking good!

  2. Well, what can you say? LOL The tree looks nice though. Very festive. :-)

  3. So I’ve basically seen your kids grow up right before my eyes…. How did DAISY (insert wink) get to be 6 foot 4?? And when did WILL & WYATT become full grown Cali-teens (super nor-cal style—I grew up in Pleasanton/Sunol, I should know heehee) when they were just cute towheaded kids like 2 weeks ago, or so it seems??
Yes, after reading your blog I obviously bought the book a few months ago, and even though alot was here for the perusing, I appreciated the extra tidbits and jumps to the relevant… You will get a positive review on Amazon forthright!!
Anyway, you have succeeded in life, beautiful children with heads on their shoulders (in spite of the oncoming teen years which we both can ignore lol), a happy divorce (which is rare, but the institution of the big D is certainly commonplace these days),  a new loving relationship with a very attractive, loves-to-cook (and does it professionally) loves your kids kind of man, a career which has its ups and downs but will eventually pan out for the betterment of our society (yes, I said that)…. With trials and tribulations, you will continue your success as a MOM first and foremost.
What a wonderful reason for me to want to someday BE a Mommy (with a capital “M”).
    You are amazing.
Please now sign my book …. just kidding!!
Thanks for welcoming us all into your home and family, and making this season finally ring in with your own tree-trimming.  I will now be off to attach lights to the stucco, so I bid you adieu!!

  4. Melissa, usually only the kids can make me cry before eight a.m.! Waaaaah!

Thank you for being here all this time (and for the two dollar royalty when you bought the book! Ca-ching!) and for your sweet words. I was thinking yesterday while talking with HS friends that I hadn’t really improved anything since then, as I have about as much as I started with, and am even less able to support myself now then I could then! Thank you for pointing out all the ways I was wrong… you made my day. And December.

  5. I do love that you’re decorating your tree in shorts. Must live in California. It’s still been pretty chilly around here.

  6. Those are some pretty gorgeous kids you’ve got there, Mindy!

  7. So cute! We won’t do our tree until our whole family arrives on the 21st…
